ASSISTANT TROOP COMMANDERS AND CID POSITIONS APPROVED BY STATE POLICE COMMISSION VOTE

(LITTLE ROCK) – The Arkansas State Police Commission today approved the recommendation of Colonel Winford E. Phillips, Director of the Arkansas State Police, to promote Sergeants Barry Saffold, 44, of Star City and Shawn Garner, 43, of Benton, to the rank of lieutenant and assign them to duties as assistant troop commanders.

Lieutenant Saffold, an 18 year veteran of the department, will assume his new duties in Pine Bluff at Highway Patrol, Troop E Headquarters.

Lieutenant Garner, a 17 year veteran of the department, will assume his new duties in Hot Springs at Highway Patrol, Troop K Headquarters.

Other personnel action approved by the commission today was the promotion of Corporal Stuart Woodward, 41, of Little Rock, to the rank of sergeant. Sergeant Woodward, a 9 year veteran of the department will assume his new duties in Little Rock assigned as a Criminal Investigation Division special agent supervisor at CID Company A.

The commission also approved the lateral transfer of Sergeant Bob Roten, 56, of Mountain Home, to Springdale as a CID special agent supervisor position in CID Company D.
