Major Wolfe is a career officer of the Arkansas State Police having joined the department on July 1, 1969. He has served in Highway Patrol assignment around the state and prior to his appointment as Highway Patrol Division commander in June 2004, Major Wolfe was commander of the division's Troop J headquartered at Clarksville.

A graduate of Cotton Plant High School and the Traffic Institute of Southwest Missouri State University, Major Wolfe has also received accreditation from the School of Law Enforcement and Supervision at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
