Major Les Braunns joined the department in April 1979 and was initially assigned to Troop L, Madison County.

He was promoted to sergeant in 1996, graduated from the Command Staff School in 1999 and promoted in 2000 to the rank of lieutenant, assigned as assistant commander, Highway Patrol, Troop I at Harrison.

Promoted to the rank of captain in 2003 he assumed command of Highway Patrol, Troop L, headquartered at Springdale.

  The command authority of the department's Highway Patrol Division is divided into two regions. Troops G, H, I, J, K & L are under the authority of the Western Region Commander, Troops A, B, C, D, E & F are under the authority of the Eastern Region Commander.
 
Braunns was promoted to the rank of major in 2008 and assigned to the Director's Command Staff at general headquarters. He was subsequently assigned to the commander's position for the Highway Patrol Division, western region.
   

Major J.R. Hankins,, a Major J.R. Hankins joined the department in February 1979 and was initially assigned to Troop A, Pulaski County.

He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1995 and in 1999 was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, assigned as assistant troop commander to Highway Patrol, Troop C at Jonesboro.

In 2004 he was promoted to the rank of captain and assumed command of Highway Patrol, Troop J headquartered at Clarksville.

Captain Hankins was promoted to the rank of major in 2010 and assumed new duties as Highway Patrol Division Commander for the eastern region of Arkansas.

Major Hankins is a Lawrence County native and is a 2007 graduate of the National FBI Academy.
